What's New November 2016 banner

A new month brings a wealth of new Blu-ray and DVD releases, so now's a great time to play catch-up and see what we have ahead of us in the month of November! You can always head to our BLU-RAY AND DVD RELEASE DATES section for a more complete list, but in this column we'll go over some of the more popular titles hitting shelves over the next 5 weeks!

November 1

The month starts off with some sabotage in STAR TREK BEYOND! One of the more fun entries into this summer's cinema catalogue, BEYOND boasts a fun performance from Sofia Boutella and a plethora of Blu-ray options for fans to choose from. You have your standard package, the 3D iteration, a limited edition gift set and a bundle that includes all 3 new TREK films. Beam me the hell up! We also have one of the more overlooked comedies of the year in BAD MOMS starring my wife Kristen Bell (don't believe the Dax Shephard rumors), which is definitely worth a look if you enjoy funny and good things. Otherwise, there's Kevin Spacey as a real pussy in NINE LIVES if you hate yourself.

November 8

The comedy continues with Seth Rogen's adult-themed animated flick, SAUSAGE PARTY. If you're looking for something a little lighter, a package of the 3 RUSH HOUR films is also being released, because it's hard to go wrong with Jackie Chan! You can also enjoy Marvel's most popular TV venture in Daredevil, which is FINALLY being released on Blu-ray. TV fans can also continue their adventures with the release of season 3 of Black Sails and season 1 of Into the Badlands. Otherwise, catch up with some great films in TAXI DRIVER and the equally admired (by me) BUBBA HO-TEP, featuring Bruce Campbell as Elvis battling a mummy!

November 15

This week is a big one, so let's DIVE IN (you'll get it in a moment). One of the largest releases of the year finds it's way home on Blu-ray this week, and that's FINDING DORY. If you're looking for something a little darker than Ellen DeGeneres‘ antics, you can also play catch-up with the latest season of Game of Thrones, which will be released this week. Star Wars fans have the Collector's Edition of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS to look forward to, which boasts some spiffy new features to entice fans into a double dip. It's certainly going to work for this guy! Also worth a look for you Breaking Bad fans is Better Call Saul, of which its second season hits shelves.

November 22

You may not have even known there was a sequel to Jason Statham's MECHANIC, but the proof hits home this week with MECHANIC RESURRECTION! Todd Phillips' WAR DOGS also arrives, boasting an interesting team-up with Jonah Hill and Miles Teller. One of the more overlooked animated features of the year arrives home today, and of course I'm referring to Laika Studios' KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS. Laika will also be releasing a box set with all of their feature-films to date in case you need to play catch-up. Finally, if you're feeling really balls-y, Kevin Smith's YOGA HOSERS will be released.

November 29

Rounding out the month is another remake of an older Disney tale, PETE'S DRAGON. Word on the street is that the film is even better than Steven Spielberg's latest, THE BFG, which hits Blu-ray on the same day. If you're already yearning for last month's spookiness, one of the best horror films of the year, DON'T BREATHE, is definitely worth a look! Then again, if that's not your brand, there's always next month!
