Nominees for the Golden Trailer Awards include Black Panther and much more!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Everyone knows that crafting a perfect trailer is hard work. More often than not, today's trailers are thought to give away far too much about the subject's plot, and that's not even getting into the weeds of studios releasing eleventy-billion TV spots. With that said, a well-crafted trailer can work wonders for tentpole films such as BLACK PANTHER and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, and can even help garner some excitement for the release of smaller films like Guillermo del Toro’s THE SHAPE OF WATER or John Krasinski’s surprise smash-hit A QUIET PLACE. Regardless of how you feel about trailers, they've always been a neccessary ingredient for success with regard the many forms of media they represent. Personally, I like to watch a trailer one time, and then walk away, excited for what's to come.

Today, the nominees for 19th annual Golden Trailer ceremony have been announced, an event that helps to celebrate the work of trailer houses, studio marketing teams, voice-over actors, and others involved in creating commercials, trailers, poster, and assorted promotional products for films. While I think that the PR team behind DEADPOOL 2 should win for all the things, there are still plenty of worthwhile nominees that have been chosen for this year's event.

Speaking of which, the ceremony for the 19th annual Golden Trailer Awards is scheduled to be presented live on May 31st at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles. The celebration will be hosted by Michelle Buteau (THE TICK), and will feature trailers and promotional materials for such projects as THE HITMAN'S BODYGUARD, ISLE OF DOGS, TOMB RAIDER, LADY BIRD, JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE, and lots more!
