COFFY, the blaxploitation flick which made a star out of Pam Grier, proved to be a big hit for American International Pictures, so much so that they soon put a sequel into development. AIP later changed their minds and that sequel became FOXY BROWN, with Grier once again dispensing street justice as she sought revenge for the murder of her boyfriend by a drug syndicate. Deadline reports that Pam Grier's iconic bad-ass character will once again punish the guilty, but this time, she'll be doing it on the small screen.

The outlet reports that the TV adaptation of FOXY BROWN will make its home at Hulu and star Meagan Good (Minority Report) in the title role. As the series has long been a passion project of Good's, she will also serve as a producer on the show which will be executive produced by her husband DeVon Franklin and Tony Krantz. Malcolm Spellman (Empire) and Ben Watkins (Burn Notice) will serve as showrunners of the Foxy Brown series as well as pen the script for the pilot. While it would be fantastic if Foxy Brown was able to stick to its 70's roots as a period piece, I'd imagine that this will be a modern re-imagining complete with all the "grit" and "realism" we can handle.
