Mark Hamill, James Gunn to meet & talk about possible role in Guardians 3

Mark Hamill has become a movie icon thanks to his adventures in the galaxy far, far away as Luke Skywalker. But now, his time in the series is over, and now it’s time to go out and find a new universe to play in. What better one than the Marvel universe as part of the next GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY movie? Thanks to a fan suggestion, this dream may soon become a reality.

Yesterday afternoon Twitter user Ian Fee tweeted at James Gunn about finding a role for Hamill in the next GUARDIANS movie. Gunn responded saying Hamill, in fact, lived close to him and that he could come chat over some coffee. Enter Hamill himself, and what started off as a playful suggestion has turned into Gunn and Hamill exchanging contact info. I would sum up my excitement, but actor Josh Gad has done that for me.

I think @HamillHimself lives around the corner from me in Malibu so he can just come over and we can talk about it over a cup of coffee.

Of course, I don't need to say this is far, far away from indicating the actor will have a role in the new movie, but who knows; we could be witnessing the start of a very real and beautiful piece of casting. The actor has wrapped up the STAR WARS movies after the passing of Skywalker in THE LAST JEDI, and lord knows if he would show up as some sort of force ghost in EPISODE IV. 

Needless to say, I am all about this. I don't care if it's a major role or even a small cameo as a giant green space squid, I just want to see Hamill in the new GUARDIANS movie. And do I really need to have a reason why? It's Mark F**king Hamill! I will watch the man in anything, especially if it's a new, expensive space adventure. Make it happen, boys. In the meantime, I'm going to do the Baby Groot dance.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3 is slated for Summer 2020
