Key & Peele will produce the Police Academy reboot

So I completely forgot that Hollywood was trying to make POLICE ACADEMY happen again. Honestly, I have no issues with rebooting the series as long as there’s a cameo for the Guttes is in there.

If you weren’t on board with a reboot of the classic cop comedy, then you might be after I drop this knowledge bomb. It looks like Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele who are the stars of Comedy Central’s KEY & PEELE will be on the New Line reboot as producers. This is a huge thing. If you’ve seen these guys do their thing on the skit show then you know they are hilarious. They are definitely what this reboot needs.

No word yet on if the duo will star or not, but they should. It’s pretty much a must at this point.

Original producer Paul Maslansky is back on, and said this about the project going forward:

It’s going to be very worthwhile to the people who remember it and to those who saw it on TV. It’s going to be a new class. We hope to discover new talent and season it with great comedians. It’ll be anything but another movie with a numeral next to it. And we’ll most probably retain the wonderful musical theme.

The third season of KEY & PEELE ended last December, and the series was renewed for a four season to air some time this year. If you catch FX’s FARGO, the guys will star as a team of cops for four episodes. Then there’s that movie that Judd Apatow is making with them. These guys are going to be busy for awhile.
