Disney Orlando to open Star Wars Land park section in 2019!

In a time when it feels as if many things are uncertain, it’s nice to know that you can always count on the wonderment, magic, and passion of the Star Wars universe to act as a lighthouse in the fog of troubling times. We’ve known for a while now that Disney Orlando has been making preparations for a 14-acre Star Wars attraction to be added to their already massive and entertaining theme park, and just today, we’ve got some updated information that includes an opening date window!

That’s right, young padawans, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed on Tuesday that Star Wars Land will open in 2019, just in time to celebrate STAR WARS EPISODE IX, the final chapter in the “Skywalker Saga” series of films. Though its construction began last April, little is known about what will be involved in the attraction, including which characters will make their first appearance as a part of the interpersonal park populace. One thing that seems to be confirmed by the Disney Parks blog post, is that guests will be afforded the opportunity to “pilot the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy” by climbing into the cockpit of a full-sized replica of the Millennium Falcon.

During that same phone call I’d mentioned above, you might be interested to hear that Iger has already viewed a cut of STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI (the follow-up sequel to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS), and he’s pretty jazzed about what he’s seen thus far.

What do you all think? Can your Star Wars-loving heart handle the reality of walking a 14-acre entertainment space dedicated entirely to George Lucas’ ever-expanding space opera? What attractions do you expect to see? Will you stop for drinks at the Mos Eisley Cantina, or perhaps engage in a simulated battle with a Rancor? The sky is literally the limit with this bold endeavor, and I for one can’t wait to see what the House of Mouse rolls out in 2019 as a part of their big Star Wars celebration!

Also to note, Disney's "Pandora – The World of Avatar" is set to open on May 27, 2017 as a part of Disney World's Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida.
