What makes Michael Myers so iconic in the pantheon of horror movie villains? The mask? The knife? The rise from the floor that makes you scream, “He’s not dead! Turn around, you fool!”? Yes, all of that. But what truly makes him so terrifying is that he is – in the words of HALLOWEEN star Jamie Lee Curtis“the embodiment of pure evil.” In a new featurette for the highly-anticipated horror movie she, the director of the 1978 original John Carpenter and the director of this year’s HALLOWEEN David Gordon Green talk about this walking, stabbing personification of evil.

We saw a new trailer for the movie yesterday that found the killer dishing out some bloody kills with a hammer and a knife, living up to Curtis’ description. “He is ruthless – a relentless force,” Carpenter says. Green understood this, and Michael seems back and more blood-thirsty than ever and Carpenter says it’s all “as good as I’ve seen since the first movie.”
