Patton Oswalt playing an imaginary Pegasus in SyFy’s Happy!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

It seems that Patton Oswalt will be replacing Bobby Moynihan as the voice of the eponymous Happy the Horse in the SyFy dark comedy HAPPY! It's based on a graphic novel by Grant Morrison where an imaginary cartoon-looking Pegasus (Happy) teams up with with an alcoholic hitman (played on the show by Christopher Meloni). Here's the official synopsis for the show, per Deadline:

Happy!, set to premiere in the fall, follows Nick Sax (Chris Meloni) – an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man – who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse named Happy (Oswalt). Together, Happy and Nick make the oddest of oddball buddy double acts, and team up to help save a little girl named Hailey who has been abducted.

Sounds good to me! I'm always down for things that try something different. And while there are some echoes of ROGER RABBIT (cartoon sidekick in noir-style story), I like that it's taking that idea to the extreme (apparently the comic is very bloody and graphic). So count me in!

Meanwhile, HAPPY! will premiere on SyFy sometime in 2018.
