Danny Boyle & Richard Curtis’ musical comedy now set to sing in Summer 2019

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Although Danny Boyle is no longer the director of BOND 25, the acclaimed filmmaker still has an untitled musical comedy in the works with LOVE ACTUALLY and FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL scribe Richard Curtis. According to sources, the feature is expected to contain musical elements, and will be connected to the music of the legendary rock n roll ensemble, The Beatles. In the yet-to-be-titled film, a man wakes up in a world where the timeless anthems of the Fab Four never existed. Brrrr, did you just feel a chill? I know I did.

Word has it that Universal is very excited about the pic after viewing early clips from the musically-charged project. While much about the film remains unknown at this time, we have learned that it will bow on June 28, 2019, placing it in direct competition with Paramount's LIMITED PARTNERS comedy starring Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne, as well as LOGAN helmer James Mangold's FORD V. FERRARI drama featuring Christian Bale and Matt Damon.

With the music of The Beatles at its core, there's no telling how weird or wild Boyle's musical may become. After all, those mop-topped rockers got into some pretty psychedelic territory later in their careers. Could we be headed toward a film that combines ACROSS THE UNIVERSE with TRAINSPOTTING? I certainly hope so.
