Aaron Eckhart to star in exorcism horror movie Incarnate, from the producers of Insidious

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

As the micro-budget horror film gains more and more traction at the box office (INSIDIOUS, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, SINISTER), studios are going to try and get more and more big names into the movies. Next up from Blumhouse, the producers behind INSIDIOUS, comes INCARNATE which will star Aaron Eckhart. Eckhart will become the highest profile actor to join one of these horror movies.

INCARNATE will begin production in November and will be directed by Brad Peyton (JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND). It will tell the story of "an unconventional exorcist who can tap into the subconscious of the possessed who meets his match when a 9-year-old boy is possessed by a demon from his past."

Eckhart is best known for his turn as Harvey Dent in Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT but has recently appeared in the mid-budget films OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN and the upcoming I, FRANKENSTEIN. INCARNATE will likely be low budget and tell the same type of horror as James Wan's recent successful movies.

Horror tends to be better when it has a low budget. Studio horror that costs millions upon millions to produce end up being films like I AM LEGEND or WORLD WAR Z and stretch the definition of the genre. When you are limited in your budget you find more creative ways to scare audiences. Hopefully INCARNATE will be more like INSIDIOUS and less like THE DEVIL INSIDE.
