One of the breakout performers of the year has to be Jack O'Connell. He stars in Angelina Jolie’s upcoming war drama UNBROKEN next week and turned heads earlier this year in STARRED UP and at the TIFF with his performance in '71 which has a new trailer below. The film is directed by Yann Demange and revolves around a British soldier (O’Connell) who is abandoned by his unit during the Belfast riots in 1971.

Here’s the official synopsis for '71:

'71 takes place over a single night in the life of a young British soldier (Jack O’Connell) accidentally abandoned by his unit following a riot on the streets of Belfast in 1971. Unable to tell friend from foe, and increasingly wary of his own comrades, he must survive the night alone and find his way to safety through a disorientating, alien and deadly landscape.

Watching this trailer and seeing him try and find a way out of the explosive warzone made in incredibly anxious, I can’t imagine what this movie will be like from start to finish. Luckily our own Chris Bumbray had a chance to see it and in his review called it a "historical-style BOURNE-thriller" with "almost unbearable tension all the way though." Sold!

’71 also stars Sam Reid and Sean Harris and opens in the U.S. on February 27, 2015.
