The hunt is on in the first trailer for The Predator

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

After spending too many years not getting a chance to hunt and slaughter, the Predator is back and ready to stick his claws deep into someone’s chest cavity. Some of the folks who will have to face his wrath are Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, and Thomas Jane, and they clearly have no idea what they’re up against. The first trailer proves that as the dangerous Predator makes his way to Earth and gives new meaning to “the thrill of the hunt.” Seriously, these people are going to die.

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

There’s not a lot that happens here, as should be expected with the first footage. But, this seems to fit what our own Paul Shirey talked about when he saw the footage at CinemaCon this year. We see that the alien arrives on Earth after Jacob Tremblay’s character plays with an alien device and that Holbrook and his team must clean up the mess. There are a few shots of the Predator, but he’s kept in the dark long enough to leave something to the imagination (but not without the occasionally bloody shot). There seems to be plenty of action, and all-in-all it looks like a fun flick. The movie comes out in four months, so we should get a longer trailer perhaps in July, so hopefully, this one quenches your thirst for brutal alien kills in the meantime.

THE PREDATOR arrives September 14.
