John Carpenter’s The Fog to return to theaters with a 4K restoration

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

THE FOG told the story of strange, glowing fog which swept over a small coastal town in California, bringing with it the vengeful ghosts of mariners who were killed in a shipwreck 100 years before. With a cast boasting the talents of Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Atkins, Janet Leigh, and Hal Holbrook, you know that you're in store for something special, and although the John Carpenter film may not have been received quite as well as his last film (HALLOWEEN), it's still a fantastically spooky ride which you should definitely check out if you haven't.

Variety has reported that THE FOG will soon be returning to theaters with a fancy 4K restoration courtesy of Rialto Pictures on October 26, 2018.The film will open for limited runs at the Metrograph in New York, Landmark’s Nuart Theatre in Los Angeles, the Music Box Theatre in Chicago, with additional screenings set to occur during Halloween week throughout the Alamo Drafthouse circuit and other specialty theaters. "‘The Fog’ has been our most requested title for as long as we have handled the StudioCanal library here," said Eric Di Bernardo, Rialto’s director of sales. "It is Carpenter’s most visually alluring film and we think it’s been worth the wait." You can check out a trailer for the 4K restoration of THE FOG above. Is it October yet?
