Helena Bonham Carter is back for the Alice in Wonderland sequel

Hello lovely. Helena Bonham Carter is back for the sequel to ALICE IN WONDERLAND.

The actress will reprise her role as the Red Queen for the second installment titled THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS. One would think that naturally the plot would be similar to that of Lewis Carroll’s 1871 novel of the same name, but at this time those details were being kept under wraps.

Tim Burton will not be back to direct the sequel. Instead, THE MUPPETS helmer James Bobin will be taking over this time around. We got confirmation last year that Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska would be back as well. No word on Anne Hathaway or Alan Rickman. Sacha Baron Cohen was in early talks last month to sign on as the villain in the latest chapter.

The first film made tons of money in theaters. I was actually quite surprised at the amount it brought in. It was a force to be reckoned with. Now, I wasn’t in love with it by any means. I think my favorite parts were any that Crispin Glover popped in. With Burton out, I don’t know that I’m inclined to see the sequel though.

THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS will hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
