Tom Hardy webs up a Venom behind the scenes featurette video

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Earlier today, we got our first official look at Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock in the upcoming Ruben Fleischer-directed VENOM movie. The photo was a welcomed, high-rez look at the actor, who up until now had only been glimpsed on the set of the Spider-Man spinoff by way of blurry paparazzi images (and one ridiculous video). Granted, Brock may not be all drool and razor-sharp teeth in the photo, but we'll take what we can get, right?

Now, we've gotten hold of a special Behind the Scenes Featurette video which had recently been presented to those in attendance at the Brazil Comic-Con VENOM panel. In the video, Hardy gives fans of the character his word of honor that he's "doing everything he can to deliver the best Venom" possible. And while there were no new story details to share about the film, Marvel enthusiasts were reminded that the inspiration for the movie will come from the Lethal Protector and Planet of the Symbiotes stories featured the comics.

You can watch the beind the scenes video for yourself below:

In Lethal Protector, Venom relocates to San Francisco after making a pact with Spider-Man not to fight each other anymore, while Planet finds Venom teaming up with Spidey to fight some other vicious symbiote forms. Both tales serve to take Venom to places he's never been before, and establish him as more than just an ofttimes villain for Marvel's friendly neighborhood wall-crawler.

On a more personal note, I've no idea what this movie will amount to, but I love Hardy's zeal for the character. You can bet that I'll be watching the trailer very closely, once it finally makes its way online.

Stay close for more details related to Tom Hardy and Ruben Fleischer's VENOM as they're announced. Meanwhile, the fill will web-swing into theaters on October 5th.
