Katherine Waterston has landed a lead role in Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs film

A few days ago we learned that Kate Winslet was in negotiations to join the new Steve Jobs film. Official word came down today that INHERENT VICE’s Katherine Waterston has landed a lead role in the film. She will be playing the role of Chrisaan Brennan in the film, Jobs’ long-time partner who gave birth to their first child, Lisa Brennan-Jobs. While we don't know how deep into Job's personal life the film will go, this relationship may certainly lend some drama to the movie because for two years, Brennan raised Lisa on welfare while Jobs denied paternity by claiming he was sterile; he later acknowledged Lisa as his daughter.

Previously Aaron Sorkin said that Lisa is "the heroine" of the film, so hopefully we get some casting news on that as well shortly. Waterson, who gave a breakout performance in INHERENT VICE, wouldn’t have been on everyone’s mind for the role but is well deserved just the same. Interestingly enough her father, Sam Waterson, just wrapped up work on Sorkin’s HBO series The Newsroom.

With filming set to begin early next year, casting should be wrapping up soon so expect more announcements in the coming weeks.
