Update: Infinity War Blu-Ray won’t include 30 more minutes of Thanos

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Update:

Welp, that was fast. Mere moments after reporting on the possibility of the AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Blu-ray release including 30 extra minutes of Thanos-related footage, a leaked breakdown of the disc's Special Features has hit the net.

According to Twitter user Anton Volkov, the Blu-ray will feature 45 minutes of extras, mostly featurettes, with just three deleted scenes — accounting for about five and a half minutes’ worth of footage. If the German translation is correct, the scenes to be included on the release bear the following titles: “Happy Has a Perspective,” “Hunt for the Mind Stone” and “The Guardians Find Their Groove.”

Okay, before you bust out into a soft shoe routine whilst snapping your fingers in celebration, please know that you should take the following with a large grain of salt. After all, people make unconfirmed proclamations all the time, and this is certainly one of those.

Over the weekend, Collider’s own Jon Schnepp moderated a panel with Infinity Gauntlet writer and Thanos creator Jim Starlin at Las Vegas Comic Con. When speaking with the man who gave birth to Marvel's Mad Titan, Starlin confirmed that the Russo brothers had shot nearly 30 minutes of completed footage of Thanos’s back story but were instructed to cut it out of the final print of the film. While that was enough to make everyone sit bolt upright, his next statement was even more enticing. According to Starlin, the Russos plan to restore the footage depicting to the villain's backstory for the Blu-ray.

It's worth noting that because the footage is finished, the additional footage would not be a deleted scenes affair. That's right, my friends. We're talking full-on re-integration. Obviously, this "news" isn't worth losing our heads over until Marvel or the Russos make if official. In the meantime, we can do some hardcore daydreaming about what those scenes might look like. Personally, I'd like to see a nod to Thanos' infatuation with Lady Death, though I won't be holding my breath. What would you like to see as a part of the extra footage? Let us know in the comments section below.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is still playing at a theater near you. Why not go and see it for the umpteenth time?
