Assassination Nation trailer features every trigger warning imaginable

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

If there was ever a movie designed to trigger personal soft spots you, or anyone else, may have ASSASSINATION NATION is probably it.  The movie from Sam Levinson is about a small town that gets attacked by a hacker who posts all of their sensitive information online for everyone else to see. Chaos ensues, and PURGE-style mayhem infects the town as everyone goes bonkers. The first red-band trailer teases everything from bad language to brutal murders – just so you know up front what this movie’s deal is.

Here is the official synopsis:

High school senior Lily and her group of friends live in a haze of texts, posts, selfies and chats just like the rest of the world. So, when an anonymous hacker starts posting details from the private lives of everyone in their small town, the result is absolute madness leaving Lily and her friends questioning whether they’ll live through the night.

The movie premiered at Sundance where it became one of the most talked-about movies of the festival. NEON (I, TONYA) picked up the movie along with Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO for a cool $10 million, and it is set for release on September 21. The film’s cast is fleshed out by Odessa Young, Bella Thorne, Suki Waterhouse, Joel McHale, Maude Apatow and Bill Skarsgard.

Well, this movie looks absolutely mad. You don't have to watch long to understand that this is the kind of movie meant to make a statement and shock viewers in the process, and will surely be a love it/hate it experience. Either way, this is one to watch out for, unless of course you're offended by people with potty mouths.

ASSASSINATION NATION arrives September 21.
