First poster for Red Dawn remake with Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, and Adrianne Palicki hits

The RED DAWN remake has been languishing for years now, but it will finally see release this fall, which may well be a great thing for all involved, seeing as many of the film’s young stars have seen their careers explode since the completion of the film.

Stars Chris Hemsworth (THOR, THE AVENGERS), Josh Hutcherson (THE HUNGER GAMES), and Adrianne Palicki (G.I. JOE: RETALIATION) have all seen major boosts in their popularity, becoming household names, which sure as hell can’t hurt RED DAWN’s chances of success, especially with female audiences, which aren’t the typical audience for this type of film.

Check it out:

Production company problems and a last minute villain replacement of North Korea for China has kept the film in limbo, but now that all the kinks have been worked out the film will finally bow before audiences.  It’s hard to tell if a film sitting on the shelf this long can pay off, so it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out.  Directed by veteran stunt coordinator Dan Bradley, the pic also stars Josh Peck, Isabel Lucas, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Connor Cruise.

Here’s the synopsis:

In RED DAWN, a city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.

Expect a trailer to roll out shortly with the film hitting theaters on November 21, 2012.
