Chris Hemsworth believes Avengers 4 to be more shocking than Infinity War

MAJOR SPOILERS for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. Seriously, if you haven't seen the film, run for the hills! As the culmination of the past decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR brought an entire universe full of heroes and villains into one film, and the results…were suitably epic. However, Chris Hemsworth believes that we haven't seen anything yet.

While speaking with Esquire, Chris Hemsworth touched upon AVENGERS 4, which he boasts will be even more shocking than INFINITY WAR. Considering that film left many Marvel Cinematic Universe characters pushing up the daisies, as well as half of the universe when Thanos (Josh Brolin) snapped his fingers, it's quite the statement.

If you were shocked by [Infinity War], I think the second one is even more shocking, for other reasons entirely. That’s what kind of blew me away the first time I read both scripts, is how they managed to orchestrate so many different characters but give them each their own separate shot and moments, and have it be elevated and feel fresh and unique—not just like a messy, thrown-together assembly of these guys. The second one I’m probably even more excited about. Just for people to see. I just think it’s another step again. Each step we seem to take with these films, I’ve loved the fact that there’s been growth and evolution and it continues to surprise people as opposed to sort of flatlining, which was obviously always a fear—that they’d run out of ideas or run dry of creative excitement. For me, this whole experience has been incredible. In particular the last one.

That chimes with what AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeeley said while speaking with Buzzfeed last month, as Markus said that AVENGERS 4 won't do what we believe it will. "It is a different movie than you think it is," Markus added. "Also…[the deaths are] real. I just want to tell you it’s real, and the sooner you accept that, the sooner you will be able to move on to the next stage of grief." Following up on Markus' statement, McFeeley said, "Put it this way. I think [Infinity War] is a fairly mature movie for a blockbuster. It’s got a lot of fun in it, obviously, but boy, it gets very mature. The second one is also mature. We’re going to own these choices, and hopefully surprise and delight you and get you invested. It’s by the same studio, the same filmmaking team. They were written at the same time, shot at the same time. They’re clearly connected, but they are definitely two different movies, one of which is dependent on what happened previous." Markus then boasted, "we broke your heart, now we're going to blow your mind." Bring it on.

What do you think? Will AVENGERS 4 be able to top AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR in shock value?
