Finding Dory swims to #1!

Pixar's famous forgetful fish returned to theaters this weekend and put FINDING DORY on top at the box office with an estimated $136.1 million!

The FINDING NEMO sequel didn't just have the biggest opening for a Pixar movie (passing TOY STORY 3's $110.3 million start), it  also had the biggest opening for any PG-rated movie and any animated release, defeating the $121.6 million first weekend of previous record-holder SHREK THE THIRD back in 2007.

FINDING DORY, which lured in an additional $50 million from overseas, also scored the biggest opening day for an animated release ($54.9 million from Friday alone) and the highest June opening second only to the bewildering $208 million launch of JURASSIC WORLD last summer. Critics adored the second adventure of Ellen DeGeneres' absent-minded blue fish and her ocean friends, giving it a 95% average on Rotten Tomatoes.

Opening in second place was the new action-comedy CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE with $34.5 million. The crowd-pleasing PG-13 pairing of Kevin Hart and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson had a debut that was fairly typical for the former (RIDE ALONG 2 opened with $35.2 million in January) but short of the $54.5 million opening of The Rock's seismic devastation SAN ANDREAS last summer. Critics gave the duo's espionage antics a 67% average on Rotten Tomatoes.

After frightening its way to first place last weekend, THE CONJURING 2 slipped to third with $15.5 million, down 61% from its opening. The R-rated supernatural sequel from director James Wan has a 10-day domestic total of $71.7 million and a worldwide total of $188 million (on a reported cost of $40 million).

The "Four Horsemen" were in fourth as the magician thriller NOW YOU SEE ME 2 swiped $9.5 million on its second weekend, losing 56% of business from its opening last week for a 10-day domestic total of $41.3 million and $91 million worldwide.

The adaptation of popular game WARCRAFT was in fifth place with $6.5 million, a colossal 73% plummet from its second-place opening last weekend. The action-fantasy (which cost a reported $160 million) has a 10-day domestic total of just $37.7 million, but international audiences have made it the biggest videogame movie ever with $377 million worldwide (with China accounting for over $200 million of that).

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE came in sixth with $5.2 million on its fourth weekend in theaters as Bryan Singer's mutant brawl also crossed $500 million worldwide. Fellow colorful comic book characters TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS followed closely in seventh with $5.2 million for a domestic total of $71.9 million.

Toward the bottom of the chart were the Emilia Clarke/Sam Claflin romantic drama ME BEFORE YOU with $4.1 million, ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS taking another $3.6 million (still barely a quarter of the way to the $1 billion worldwide finish of the first movie), and CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR finally battled past $400 million domestic.

Outside the chart, THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE flapped off the screen after making it past $100 million domestic, and Disney's THE JUNGLE BOOK disappeared after two-and-a-half months with a global total of $922 million. The horror movie CLOWN, from upcoming SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING director Jon Watts, was released on 100 screens but only made a terrifying $27k.

Next weekend, the aliens invade once again in INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE, Matthew McConaughey liberates slaves in FREE STATE OF JONES, Blake Lively contends with a hungry shark in THE SHALLOWS and director Nicolas Winding Refn shows the scary side of modeling with the thriller THE NEON DEMON, while limited releases include HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE (from upcoming THOR: RAGNAROK director Taika Waititi).
