Quentin Tarantino co-writing a comic book that teams Django with Zorro

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Quentin Tarantino has never made a sequel before. Sure, there was the planned VEGA BROTHERS movie that would have united John Travolta and Michael Madsen‘s characters from PULP FICTION and RESERVOIR DOGS, but that never happened. Technically, KILL BILL is one movie despite being released as two. But, until the hypothetical KILL BILL 3 gets made, the upcoming DJANGO/ZORRO may be the first true sequel that Tarantino has made.

A co-production between DC and Dynamite Entertainment, DJANGO/ZORRO is being developed and plotted by Tarantino alongside Matt Wagner. Wagner has been writing ZORRO stories in comic book form and will write the final script for the new series. It is unknown what direction the comic will take Django who was last seen burning Candie-Land to the ground at the end of DJANGO UNCHAINED.

Tarantino issued the following statement about the comic book.

“I’m very very excited about both this story and the opportunity to work with Matt. It was reading his Zorro stories that convinced me what a good idea it was to join these two icons together. And the story idea we came up with is thrilling, and I think will be an exciting new chapter for both characters.”

Fans should flock to read the new series when it hits shelves later this year since it seems we may be a ways away from getting another Tarantino project on the big screen. With THE HATEFUL EIGHT rumored to shoot this Fall, DJANGO/ZORRO may have to tide us over for a while.
