Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment have announced that they have pushed back the release date for UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS, the fifth entry in the action-horror film series and sequel to the 2012 installment UNDERWORLD: AWAKENING.

The movie, which was set to open against Ben Affleck's THE ACCOUNTANT and KEVIN HART: WHAT NOW? on October 14, 2016, will now hit theaters on January 6, 2017, where it will face off against Doug Liman's MENA starring Tom Cruise and AMITYVILLE: THE AWAKENING.

Not much is known about the plot of the movie, but Kate Beckinsale is returning as Selene, while other cast members (new and familiar) include Theo James, Trent Garrett, Tobias Menzies, Lara Pulver, Clementine Nicholson, Bradley James and Charles Dance. German cinematographer and longtime Roland Emmerich collaborator Anna Foerster is making her feature directorial debut with BLOOD WARS, and its script comes from THE LAST WITCH HUNTER and PRIEST scribe Cory Goodman.
