It's been nearly a year since the teaser trailer for Oliver Stone's SNOWDEN biopic hit, showing us absolutely nothing, but we finally have a legitimate trailer that gives us an idea of what to expect. For those uninitiated, this politically-charged thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world.
Admittedly it took the whole trailer for me to warm up to JGL's voice, but in the end I think he did a decent job of slipping into the guise of Edward Snowden. While this film looks like it's lacking the edge of Stone's early work, I think it'll prove to be an enjoyable trip down the government paranoia rabbit hole. Whether or not it proves to be anything more, we'll have to find out in September!
SNOWDEN opens in theaters on September 16, 2016.
