Al Pacino returns to form in the trailer for The Humbling

Al Pacino The Humbling

Barry Levinson’s upcoming comedy THE HUMBLING has a new trailer to remind us all of just how great Al Pacino can be. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by author Philip Roth and follows Pacino as a retired stage actor in decline who strikes up an affair with a “flirtatious lesbian” played by Greta Gerwig. I wouldn’t normally take much stock into a new Levinson comedy, but seeing Al Pacino light it up again is always worth watching. Lately the legendary actor has been delivering his best on the small screen thanks to TV movies like You Don’t Know Jack and Phil Spector for HBO; it’s good to see he’s still in the fight and maybe we will get that Scorsese dream movie after all

Here is the synopsis:

The Humbling tells the story of a legendary stage actor who has an affair with a lesbian woman half his age at a secluded country house in Connecticut. Based on Philip Roth’s final novel, it is a tragic comedy about a man who has lived inside his own imagination for too long.

THE HUMBLING also stars Mandy Patinkin, Kyra Sedgwick, Charles Grodin, Dianne Wiest, and Louise Trenner. It will hit theaters and On Demand January 23, 2015.
