Watch our Oscar “Best Picture” Retrospective for 1998 (video)

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

In this new series we take a look at the Oscar nominations of years past, examining the flicks that were nominated, as well as the pic we feel got snubbed among all the other candidates. Love ’em or hate ’em, the Oscars usually highlight the best films from each year (although there are plenty that get overlooked) and it’s always fun to look back and see what was popular for any given year and to contemplate their legacy in retrospect. This time out we take a look at the 1998 Academy Awards, which featured James Cameron‘s TITANIC, Curtis Hanson‘s L.A. CONFIDENTIAL, Gus Van Sant‘s GOOD WILL HUNTING, Peter Cattaneo‘s THE FULL MONTY, and James L. Brooks’ AS GOOD AS IT GETS. Check out the Retrospective below!
