Godzilla Vs. Kong officially announced and dated for 2020

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

You knew this was coming and today Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. made it official.

Godzilla will once again do battle with King Kong as part of a shared universe that has been in the works in recent months, GODZILLA VS. KONG is being set for a 2020 release date, following in the footsteps of KONG: SKULL ISLAND which will hit sometime in 2017 and GODZILLA 2 which will come ashore in 2018.

At the heart of each film will be Monarch, the organization we were introduced to in GODZILLA who are apparently seeking to expand their missions with each subsequent film. That, of course, can only mean more monsters. Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah are believed to provide a triple threat of opposition for the King of the Monsters in GODZILLA 2, but they appear to be nothing but a warm-up leading up the the big main event that we’re now definitely getting.

The two behemoths have done battle in the past, squaring off in 1962’s KING KONG VS. GODZILLA, in which Kong was the only creature to emerge from their crash into the ocean, making him the victor by default. 58 years later, we’re now finally getting the rematch. Hopefully it all lives up to the hype.
