To dream is to heal in the new trailer and posters for Welcome to Marwen

Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis – the acclaimed filmmaker behind FORREST GUMP, WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT and the BACK TO THE FUTURE trilogy – is poised to share something special with audiences this holiday season. Based on the award-winning 2010 documentary Marwencol by Jeff Malmberg, WELCOME TO MARWEN tells the miraculous true story of one broken man’s fight as he discovers how artistic imagination can restore the human spirit.

When a devastating attack shatters Mark Hogancamp (Steve Carell) and wipes away all memories, no one expected recovery.  Putting together pieces from his old and new life, Mark meticulously creates a wondrous town where he can heal and be heroic.  As he builds an astonishing art installation—a testament to the most powerful women he knows—through his fantasy world, he draws strength to triumph in the real one.

Among the women who inspire Mark throughout his creation of Marwen are Leslie Mann (BLOCKERS), Janelle Monáe (HIDDEN FIGURES), and Eiza González (BABY DRIVER). Together, the women of Marwen tend to Mark's shattered soul, and help him to win his most important battle ever, the war within himself. Also set to appear in this imaginative drama are Diane Kruger (INGLORIOUS BASTERDS), Merritt Wever (SIGNS, INTO THE WILD), Gwendolyn Christie (GAME OF THRONES), Leslie Zemeckis (BEOWULF), and Neil Jackson (PUSH, QUANTUM OF SOLACE).

Producing WELCOME TO MARWEN is Steve Starkey (FORREST GUMP, FLIGHT) Jack Rapke (CAST AWAY, FLIGHT) and Cherylanne Martin (RAIN MAN, TV's WESTWORLD) of Zemeckis’ Universal-based ImageMovers label alongside the film's director, Zemeckis.
