Mel Gibson and Frank Grillo in talks to star in Joe Carnahan’s Boss Level

Mel Gibson and Frank Grillo, otherwise known as two of Hollywood's biggest badasses, are in talks to star in BOSS LEVEL, an action thriller from THE GREY director Joe Carnahan.

The film, which is set to begin filming next year, centers on a retired special forces veteran who becomes trapped in a never ending loop resulting in his death. In order to cease his endless suffering, Roy must figure out who is responsible and get them to end the debilitating cycle. If all goes well, Grillo will be stepping into the role of the special force's vet. In addition to directing the feature, Carnahan will also pen the script.

The offer for Gibson comes just after the release of DADDY'S HOME 2, a sequel to the 2015 comedy starring Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Linda Cardellini, and Thomas Haden Church. For the sequel, Gibson plays Kurt, the rough-and-rugged father of Wahlberg's Dusty. In addition to his role in BOSS LEVEL, it's been previously reported that Gibson will soon re-team with Danny Glover and director Dick Donner for another installment of the LETHAL WEAPON FRANCHISE at Warner Bros.

BOSS LEVEL is set to begin filming next year.
