Tully trailer stars Charlize Theron as a modern mom who needs some help

There’s no mother on the planet who says the job of raising kids is always easy, and Charlize Theron seems to be having an especially rough go of it in the new movie, TULLY.  The film sees director Jason Reitman reteaming with JUNO and YOUNG ADULT scribe Diablo Cody for this tale about a mother who is given a night nanny from her brother (Mark Duplass). The first trailer is here showing Theron just trying to get through the day as a mother of three, with her husband (Ron Livingston) coming in and making some dumbass observation at the end of the day. Yeah, not a good thing to say, man.

Here is a plot synopsis of the movie:

A new comedy from Academy Award®-nominated director Jason Reitman (“Up in the Air”) and Academy Award®-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (“Juno”). Marlo (Academy Award® winner Charlize Theron), a mother of three including a newborn, is gifted a night nanny by her brother (Mark Duplass). Hesitant to the extravagance at first, Marlo comes to form a unique bond with the thoughtful, surprising, and sometimes challenging young nanny named Tully (Mackenzie Davis).

Though Reitman hasn’t been hitting it out of the park with recent efforts like LABOR DAY and MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN, he and Cody work well together and have a natural sensibility for creating clever and effecting humanist movies. TULLY could easily be one of the best movies from either of them in years, especially with a nice little cast like this in front of the camera.

TULLY hits theaters April 20.
