The international trailer for The Little Prince is absolutely beautiful

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

There are few books as beloved around the world as THE LITTLE PRINCE. Published in 1943, it has been sold over 140 million times worldwide in over 100 different languages. Often voted as one of the best books of the 20th Century, THE LITTLE PRINCE is now becoming an animated film from KUNG FU PANDA director Mark Osborne.

The domestic trailer has yet to be released, but Paramount’s French language version is now online and it looks poised to be one of the most beautiful animated films released in the last twenty years.

No story is more beloved by children and grown-ups alike than this wise, enchanting fable. The author reminisces about a day when his plane was forced down in the Sahara, a thousand miles from help. There he encountered a most extraordinary small-person. “If you please,” said the stranger, “draw me a sheep.” And thus begins the remarkable story of the Little Prince, whose strange history he learned, bit by bit, in the days that followed. There are few stories that in some way, in some degree, change the world forever for their readers. This is one.

While the international trailer doesn’t boast any recognizable voices, the English language cast includes Rachel McAdams, Mackenzie Foy, James Franco, Jeff Bridges, Marion Cotillard, Benicio Del Toro, Ricky Gervais, Albert Brooks and Paul Giamatti. With a cast like that, even if the movie is animated, this is bound to get a big push from the studio. I definitely get a WINNIE THE POOH vibe from this teaser but that could be because it is not the same action-packed cartoon we usually get from a major studio. The switch between CGI and what looks like stop-motion gives THE LITTLE PRINCE something a little extra that may make this an instant classic.

THE LITTLE PRINCE debuts in France on October 7, 2015 while a U.S. release has not been announced.
