Bad Boys For Life gets two new directors; August start date planned

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

A third entry in the BAD BOYS series has taken its sweet time getting here, with plenty of starts and stops with no hope in sight. But now the movie has taken a leap forward to bringing back the destructive police justice of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence by hiring two new directors and setting a production date. I know whatcha gonna do; get excited!

Deadline got the goods that directors Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah will helm the new movie – BAD BOYS FOR LIFE – starring Smith and Lawrence with an August production start being planned. Producing legend Jerry Bruckheimer is attached to produce, and the latest draft of the script was done by Chris Bremner

The names of the directors may sound unfamiliar to you, but now is the time to get to know them. Both men were born in Morocco and raised in Belgium where they made the indie darling BLACK, a “Romeo and Juliet” tale set in the criminal underworld. They also directed the pilot for the FX show SNOWFALL, as well as developed several more episodes.

The first two BAD BOYS movies were big hits, making over $400 million globally. The first movie helped make superstars out of Smith and Lawrence, as well as director Michael Bay. The last movie came out in 2003, and fans have been begging for a new movie since then. The last movie’s budget of $130 million probably hasn’t helped validate starting a new movie, but chances are this new movie will come in below that total. Do we really need a cop movie to be made for even near $100 million? What is this, BRIGHT?

BAD BOYS FOR LIFE aims to start this August
