Will Marvel NOW! comics supply the story cues for The Incredible Hulk 2?

The Indestructible Hulk

Didn't take too long this week for the Marvel movie rumors to start, huh?

One of the things fans desperately want to know is how Marvel is going to use Hulk in future films, and if another solo movie is in the cards for the big green bastard. Marvel has already said they want to utilize Mark Ruffalo as much as possible, which would mean no World War Hulk or Planet Hulk.

One way way to create a good balance between Hulk and Bruce Banner on film would be the rumor that is coming from The Daily Superhero. According to their sources, the sequel to THE INCREDIBLE HULK might be based on Marvel NOW's Indestructible Hulk series. In those comics, Dr. Banner feels incredibly (snicker) guilty about what the Hulk has done and reaches an agreement with S.H.I.E.L.D.: in exchange for a lab to create inventions that help humanity, S.H.I.E.L.D. gets to "point and aim" Hulk whenever they want.

This almost makes too much sense. Some fans might want to see more of Hulk just smashing, but this is really a winning recipe for the character in my opinion. Too much Hulk can be a bad thing, and where audience members really responded to Ruffalo it's smart to keep him front and center. Well, front and center and under Hulk's massive shadow, but you get get my point. Plus, if Bruce Banner has an awesome lab I'm sure Tony Stark will be curious to see what Banner's creating. And maybe he'll need Stark's help.

The next chapter in Marvel's Phase 2 films is THOR: THE DARK WORLD, out November 8th, 2013.
