First look images from Alice Through The Looking Glass show more of the same

Please raise your hand if you're excited about ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS.

Come on… Anyone?

There has to be at least one of you out there, no?

That's what I thought, and it still astounds me that somehow Tim Burton's take on ALICE IN WONDERLAND turned into a billion-dollar movie for Disney. As a result, The Mouse was more than willing to give out a green light to proceed with a sequel, even though it is damn near impossible to find anyone who can tell you that they really love that movie. I'd even settle for "like a lot," but I can't find those individuals either. (If you're out there, do come forward… I only want to know that you truly exist.)

It doesn't matter that James Bobin has moved into the director's chair, leaving Tim Burton to produce, because ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS appears to be more of the same – which leads to another movie that a lot of people will most likely see but no one will enjoy. It's a strange phenomena.

Want further proof that it's most likely the same thing over again? Have a gander at these first look images that Disney has circulated, following the first trailer release, and you'll see. There's nothing special about them. There's nothing that blows your mind. It's the same formula that took them to ten figures at the box office in 2010, and why alter that?

ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS arrives in theaters on May 27, 2016.
