Funko unveils new cereal featuring Freddy Krueger, Gollum and more

Do you have fond memories from childhood of waking up on Saturday mornings and racing down to the kitchen and pouring a bowl of delicious, incredibly surgery cereal and watching TV all day in your jammies? Well, now you can relive those memories in an amazing, meta way thanks to Funko’s new line of cereal – FunkO’s – that uses famous (and terrifying) pop culture characters as their mascots.

The company behind the popular vinyl figures with big heads is putting out six versions of the cereal to feed the nerd in you, each featuring a different character. There’s Freddy Krueger from the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET series; Jason Voorhees from the FRIDAY THE 13TH movies; Gollum, from LORD OF THE RINGS; Mega Man from the popular video games series; Cuphead and Mugman from the Cuphead game and; Funko’s own Freddy FunkO.

The cereals will be available this month, and each one will turn your milk a different color, with each box having a collectible figurine you can add to your already large collection.  Now, you can’t just buy this stuff over at the local grocery mart, and you can only get each one at a different location where anyone can satisfy their geek-themed shopping needs. Mega Man FunkO’s are at GameStop; Cuphead & Mugman FunkO’s are at Hot Topic; Freddy FunkO’s will be available through Funko; Freddy Krueger and Jason FunkO’s are at FYE and; Gollum FunkO’s are at BoxLunch. Better get hunting.

So, are these boxes getting the collector in you both jazzed up and rather hungry? You may have to get two boxes of each type, with one having a spot on your collectibles shelf and the other one in the pantry to munch on. I can also imagine the price of adult onesies will skyrocket if this cereal becomes popular.
