Jonah Hill thinks the 21 Jump Street/Men in Black crossover won’t happen

One of the more interesting tidbits to emerge from the Sony email hack back in 2014 was the revelation that they were considering a crossover between MEN IN BLACK and 21 JUMP STREET. Although it was a crazy albeit potentially interesting idea, I don't know how many people actually expected it to become a reality. Then, somehow, Sony actually began moving forward with the project with James Bobin (MUPPETS MOST WANTED) set to direct.

However, despite that forward motion, one member of the MIB 23 team doesn't seem to believe that it will actually get off the ground. Jonah Hill spoke with the Toronto Sun and said that although he was the originator of the idea, he "doubt[s] that movie will get made.” I can imagine that it'd be a bit of a challenge to meld those two universes together, which is something director James Bobin has previously addressed, and Jonah Hill seems convinced that it's all gotten too complicated

It’s too complicated. They’re trying to make all the deals, but it’s kind of impossible with all the Men in Black stuff. The Jump Street films were so fun to make and the whole joke of them was they were making fun of remakes and sequels and reboots and then now it’s become a giant sequel, reboot. It’s almost become what we were making fun of and it’s hard to maintain that joke when it’s so high stakes.

Despite his belief that MIB 23 won't happen, Hill still hopes to return to the 21 JUMP STREET universe as he finds those films to be a lot of fun to do. You can count me down for hoping MIB 23 comes together, if only to see what sort of craziness they come up with.
