Marvel’s new Spider-Man video game swings in with a release date and more!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

After Spider-Man fans have waited for what feels like an eternity to be given an update on Insomiac's upcoming SPIDER-MAN video game release, it's been announced that the Playstation-exclusive title will be swinging onto North American and UK consoles beginning on September 7th! In addition to the release date reveal, the studio has also unveiled that a Digital Deluxe version of the game will also be made available, which will include the post-launch DLC series The City That Never Sleeps. When the DLC drops, players will be invited to enjoy three new chapters of the game each with a new mission, villains, characters, and the opportunity to sport different and iconic Spidey-suits from the character's storied history.

If all of that doesn't sound like it's going to be enough to satisfy you, there's always the Collector's Edition option. That's right, true believers! In addition to including all of the content from the Digital Deluxe version, the Collector's Edition will also come complete with the white spider, a Mini Artbook from Titan Books, and a Marvel’s Spider-Man statue by Gentle Giant. What's the white spider, you ask? Honestly, I'm not entirely sure, though I do think it has something to do with the white spider emblem on Spidey's original suit. Perhaps you receive a replica of the new emblem?

Pre-orders of any edition of Spider-Man will include the Spidey-Suit Pack featuring Spider-Punk, as well as any other suits that are set to make their debut this summer. The Spider-Drone gadget, a PSN Avatar, an original PS4 theme and “extra skill points to unlock faster web-swinging sooner,” will also be packaged as a part of the pre-order bundle.

Here's the announcement trailer complete with some sweet gameplay footage:
