While we sit back and observe the endless back and forth of whether BAD BOYS 3 will ever happen, it seems that another BAD BOYS project is in the works, one that would feature the return of Special Agent Sydney "Syd" Burnett, played by Gabrielle Union in BAD BOYS II.

Per Deadline, a BAD BOYS TV spin-off is in the works which will be centered around Gabrielle Union's character. The project, which is without a title, is being written by Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier of The Blacklist, and is currently being pitched to various networks and has apparently already received strong interest from multiple sources. If you need a quick BAD BOYS II refresher, Syndey Burnett was an undercover operative with the DEA as well as the sister of Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence). She was also dating Mike Lowrey (Will Smith), which caused some tension with his partner. Could be an interesting series, particularly if they're able to replicate some of that bonkers Michael Bay action on the small-screen.

As for BAD BOYS 3, Sony Pictures removed the film from their release schedule this summer and Martin Lawrence doesn't seem optimistic that it will get off the ground again. "I don’t think we’re going to get one, not the way everything’s turning out," Lawrence said. "Will is off doing another movie, and I don’t think it’s going to happen." Back when the third film actually seemed like a possibility, Joe Carnahan (THE GREY) had signed on to write and direct the sequel, but, he wound up departing the project earlier this year. Before he exited, Joe Carnahan had teased that BAD BOYS FOR LIFE would have been the "strongest of the trilogy thus far," adding that the film would have dealt with "what becomes of Bad Boys when they're not boys anymore." Carnahan also said that "there’s a lot of funny shit in this movie, and there’s also a very mysterious, but tonally spot-on story that I think is kind of perfect for where we are in this day and age, where the guys are and reflectively, a very modern take on these guys."

What do you folks think of a BAD BOYS TV series centered around Gabrielle Union's character?
