Deadpool 2’s Lewis Tan met with DC, discussed Nightwing as potential project

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Last month, Lewis Tan posted a photo to his Twitter account which revealed that the DEADPOOL 2 and INTO THE BADLANDS actor took a meeting with DC Entertainment. As you can see from the photo posted below, Tan exited his talks with the DC brass while sporting a knowing smirk and carrying an armful of Batman comics. The image immediately set Batman fan's hearts alight, as many were hoping to hear that Tan had been cast as Nightwing for an upcoming film project. While things quieted down shortly thereafter, Tan, whose father moved to the United States to work on Tim Burton’s 1989 movie, is in the news once again after a recent spot on the ThatHashtagShow podcast.

Now, while we don't know the exact nature of Tan's meeting with DC, the British-born American actor did confess that a portion of his not-so-secret conversation did involve The Dark Knight.

“I’m not trading in my Marvel roots, because they started me,” said Tan, “but DC started my dad, so it would be nice to go over there and play around and find the right thing. So we’re looking for the right thing and there were a lot of different talks and Nightwing was one of those that were mentioned, so we’ll see."

Not long ago, THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE's Chris McKay made it quite clear that he's looking to cast someone with extensive martial arts ability for his upcoming NIGHTWING film. Of course, this wouldn't pose mch of a problem for Tan, who has already displayed a portion of his martial arts talent while appearing in AMC's INTO THE BADLANDS and Marvel's IRON FIST. Plus, fan reactions to the idea of Tan assuming the Nightwing role have been overwhelmingly positive, thus far. Personally, I think Tan is a great fit. Not only does the man have skills, he's also displayed quite a bit of passion for the character, in the past. I think he'd be willing to put the work in, and would want nothing more than to give Nightwing fans the character they so clearly deserve.

What do you think about the idea of Lewis Tan stepping into Nightwing's tights? Let us know in the comments section below.
