Jimmy Kimmel still has nightmares about hosting the Oscars in new promo

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Who could ever forget that infamous moment when LA LA LAND was mistakenly announced as Best Picture at the Academy Awards? It was an unprecedented blunder to be certain, and one that haunts Oscar host Jimmy Kimmel to this very day. However, as a man who isn't afraid to climb back atop the proverbial horse, Kimmel is once again psyching himself up to host this year's celebration, though not before exorcising a  few personal demons.

Today, a chuckle-worthy new promo for the 90th Academy Awards has been released which sees Kimmel going through the motions of leaving the past behind, and moving on to host a bigger, better, and hopefully less embarrassing show than last year. The promo itself deals with "triggers," meaning events that are likely to drum up painful memories, rendering the victim stricken with fear. For Jimmy, the trigger gets pulled each time he goes to get his mail; orders his grande latte at the local Starbucks, or thinks about slipping into a nearly-pressed tuxedo. After all, Kimmel has come a long way since the days of THE MAN SHOW (yeah, remember that hot mess?), and he'll be damned if something like a botched Oscar announcement is going to keep him down.

You can check out the new promo below:

Congratulations, again, MOONLIGHT, for earning a Best Picture award that was well-deserved. Don't forget to watch the 90th Oscars LIVE on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. EST/5:00 p.m. PST on ABC
