The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part gets Tiffany Haddish, release date

On Monday, it was announced that GIRL TRIP's Tiffany Haddish will voice a character in Warner Bros. Animation's THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART. Her role in the film is still unknown, though its been confirmed that the plot of the sequel will take place directly after the events of the original box office barn-burner, THE LEGO MOVIE (2014). According to previous reports, the primary cast members of THE LEGO MOVIE will each be returning to reprise their roles for the sequel.

Lego made the announcement today via their official Twitter account for the upcoming film:

Matt Fogel will piece together a script from an original draft written by THE LEGO MOVIE directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, with TROLLS helmer Mike Mitchell set to direct. Producing the follow-up build-a-brick adventure are Lord and Miller, Dan Lin and Roy Lee. Executive producing the sequel will be Jill Wilfert from Lego Group, Chris McKay, and Jinko Gotoh. Additionally, Allison Abbate and Chris Leahy will oversee for Warner Animation Group.

According to IMDB, Haddish is attached to a number of upcoming projects, including roles in the Charles Stone III-directed basketball comedy UNCLE DREW, Malcolm D. Lee's NIGHT SCHOOL starring Kevin Hart, Tyler Perry's THE LIST, and much more.

THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE NEXT PIECE will assemble itself in theaters come February 2019.
