movie easter eggs

These days, part of the fun of watching a movie in theaters or at home with the ability to freeze frames, is finding the Easter eggs hidden within. For the history buffs out there, the origin of the cinematic Easter egg dates back to THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. Supposedly one day on the set, the cast decided to have a traditional Easter egg hunt, as you do, but some of the eggs were never found and actually appeared in frames of the movie! So if you're obsessed with finding hidden messages, jokes, and ways to make you look smart in front of your friends, check out these Easter eggs!

Understandably some of these have been around for a while, but some may be new to other readers; there’s no expiration date on sharing so enjoy and have fun!

**POSSIBLE SPOILERS**

TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE – The land of bread

In a film that aims to offend everyone watching it’s no surprise that you can find the most subtle of jokes in the strangest of places. In the opening of TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE we see that the streets of Paris are paved with croissants. Why? Because that’s all they eat, you didn't know?

FARGO – The love symbol

fargo prince symbol

Did you ever hear the one about Prince appearing in the movie FARGO as "Victim In Field"? Well the urban legend isn’t true; that body belongs to J. Todd Anderson, who was actually a storyboard artist on the film. Prince is a famous native of Minneapolis, Minnesota so as an in-joke (I guess) they have his infamous symbol next to the role.

ALMOST FAMOUS – More like the bright side

almost famous

This one was quick but not as reaching as some might think. In the movie ALMOST FAMOUS when William Miller is in the car with Penny Lane and they are going to the hotel to see Stillwater, while they're driving, if you watch the windshield, you can see the reflection of the Prism and rainbow from on the album, Dark side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. Point it out to your friends the next time you’re having a party and I bet you will be the coolest guy in the room*.

*Not true.

ANCHORMAN – Cheque please!

This egg is a quick visual and it help to know a little Spanish as well. The Mexican restaurant Veronica visits with the girls from the station is named "Escupimos en su Alimento". In Spanish, that means, "We spit in your food".

MAD MAX: FURY ROAD – Play it again, Road Warrior

If you were one of the people who had their faces blown off last week when you watched Fury Road you may have picked up on a few subtle nods to the original trilogy. One of my favorite callbacks is with the simple music box, similar to the one seen and heard in Road Warrior. In that film Max gives the item to the character simply known as "The Feral Kid"; this time around the tune and design are slightly different so not to start the fan theories perhaps. THE NEW MAX IS THE FERAL KID! TELL THE WORLD!
