Daniel Craig confirms he is returning as 007

The trials and tribulations are over ladies and gentleman. After what seems like an eternity of uncertainty regarding the return of Daniel Craig as James Bond – filled with everything from wrist-slitting statements to recasting dreams – the final word has been said. Craig is, for sure, without a doubt, positively…wait for it…returning to play Bond once more.

While speaking with Stephen Colbert on THE LATE SHOW the host asked him straight-up if he was returning as the martini-drinking spy, and though the world was expecting some kind of “Eh, I don’t know, maybe, whatever, leave me alone” answer, the Brit gave a definite answer:

Yes.

Sound the alarm! Light the confetti! That’s not what you do with confetti? Do it anyway, man!

He spoke about the process even further, saying he’s known “for months” that he would return, and would say the reason for all the uncertainty was that he needed a break, but that he came to the conclusion he has one more ride in the Aston Martin in him:

We've been discussing it, we've just been trying to figure things out. I always wanted to, I needed a break…I think this is it [the last time]. I just want to go out on a high note, and I can't wait.

In the true spirit of what has been this hair-pulling situation, this news comes off Craig has reportedly said that he made “no decision” as to whether or not he would return, and that was just yesterday, hours before he flipped the script on Colbert. Of course, he admitted to playing coy, wanting to save the answer for Colbert. Way to play the spy game well, Mr. Craig.

Opinions of Craigs return have been spread out across the spectrum, with many (like myself) hoping to seem him return, others thinking it’s time to hang up the tux, and most people not caring if John Goodman is in the role, just so long as a decision is made. All I can say is welcome back Craig and I hope this really is a high note to go out on.

BOND 25 is aiming for a potential 2018 release.
