Starz and Freemantle Media are proud to announce that production on the sophomore season to their critically-acclaimed show, AMERICAN GODS, has officially begun! In fact, production on the salacious fantasy program based on the work of award-winning author Neil Gaiman started last week in Wisconsin. The House on the Rock, which is a quintessential location in Gaiman’s world-famous contemporary fantasy novel, will serve as a key locale in the events to come. The venue is home not only to many unique collections but also serves as a backdrop to a pivotal moment in the series and book.

A new photo (posted above) has been released alongside today's production announcement, which finds the cast and executive producer Gaiman accompanied by showrunner and executive producer Jesse Alexander. The photo was taken in the House on the Rock's fabled Carousel Room, an attraction that plays host to an elaborate merry-go-round. When AMERICAN GODS returns to Starz in 2019, the second season will consist of eight one-hour episodes.

"The first season was all about getting to the House on the Rock,” says executive producer Neil Gaiman“It's amazing to see everyone back, and to be entering the next stage of the story with the best bunch of actors around, along with some inspired filmmakers."

The cast includes Ricky Whittle (THE 100) as Shadow Moon, Ian McShane (DEADWOOD, RAY DONOVAN) as Mr. Wednesday, Emily Browning (SUCKER PUNCH, LEGEND) as Laura Moon, Pablo Schreiber (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK) as Mad Sweeney, Orlando Jones (SLEEPY HOLLOW) as Mr. Nancy, Yetide Badaki (MASTERS OF SEX) as Bilquis, Bruce Langley (DEADLY WATERS) as Technical Boy, Crispin Glover (BACK TO THE FUTURE, WILLARD) as Mr. World, Cloris Leachman (MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE) as Zorya Vechernyaya, Peter Stormare (FARGO, PRISON BREAK) as Czernobog, Mousa Kraish (SUPERBAD) as The Jinn, Omid Abtahi (ARGO) as Salim, Chris Obi (THE COUNSELOR) as Anubis, and Demore Barnes (WACO, 12 MONKEYS) as Mr. Ibis.

AMERICAN GODS will return in 2019. Furthermore, Season 2 of Starz and Gaiman's hypnotic fantasy drama will be available on Amazon Prime for fans outside the U.S.
