She-Ra and the Princesses of Power teaser wants you to answer the call

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Monday is starting off strong for She-Ra fans, as DreamWorks Animation Television has just unveiled a brief teaser for SHE-RA AND THE PRINCESSES OF POWER. In the teaser, Adora, the long-lost twin sister of Prince Adam of Eternia a.k.a. He-Man, happens upon the Sword of Power, a mystical object capable of granting its bearer untold capabilities. With the magical weapon held aloft, Adora transforms into She-Ra, the princess of Power, a kind-hearted badass tasked with keeping the people of Etheria safe from those who look to bring the kingdom to its knees.

Showrunning SHE-RA AND THE PRINCESSES OF POWER is Noelle Stevenson, a vastly talented comic book creator turned animated series guru. Stevenson is the creator of NIMONA, a HarperCollins published graphic novel about an impulsive and imaginative young shapeshifter with a penchant for villainy. In my experience, I'd found Nimona to be a sublimely subversive epic for all ages. For real, the book has everything: fantasy, adventure, magic, realms in peril, and even sharks with boobs. Furthermore, Stevenson is also the mastermind behind the Eisner Award-winning comic series LUMBERJANES, a Scooby-Doo meets the GOONIES camping yarn featuring a diverse cast of plucky young teens in the wilderness. At this time, both NIMONA and LUMBERJANES are in active development for film adaptations.

When SHE-RA AND THE PRINCESSES OF POWER makes its Netflix debut, the animated series will follow the young orphan Adora, who goes on to become the Princess of Power. Alongside a group of battle-ready friends, She-Ra leads a rebellion to free her land from the monstrous invaders of the Horde.

SHE-RA AND THE PRINCESSES OF POWER stars the voices of Aimee Carrero (ELENA OF AVALOR) stars as Adora/She-Ra, Karen Fukuhara (SUICIDE SQUAD) as Glimmer, AJ Michalka (THE GOLDBERGS) as Catra, Marcus Scribner (BLACK-ISH) as Bow, Reshma Shetty (ROYAL PAINS) as Angella, Lorraine Toussaint (ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK) as Shadow Weaver, Keston John (THE GOOD PLACE) as Hordak, Lauren Ash (SUPERSTORE) as Scorpia, Christine Woods (HELLO LADIES) as Entrapta, Genesis Rodriguez (TIME AFTER TIME) as Perfuma, Jordan Fisher (GREASE LIVE!) as Seahawk, Vella Lovell (CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND) as Mermista, Merit Leighton (KATIE AND ALEXA) as Frosta, Sandra Oh (KILLING EVE) as Castaspella, and Krystal Joy Brown (MOTOWN: THE MUSICAL) as Netossa.

SHE-RA AND THE PRINCESSES OF POWER is slated for a November 16 premiere on Netflix.
