Watch our Oscar “Best Picture” Retrospective for 2009 (video)

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

In this recurring series we take a look at the Oscar nominations of years past, examining the flicks that were nominated, as well as the pic we feel got snubbed among all the other candidates. Love ’em or hate ’em, the Oscars usually highlight the best films from each year (although there are plenty that get overlooked) and it’s always fun to look back and see what was popular for any given year and to contemplate their legacy in retrospect. This time we take a look at 2009’s nominees (for movies made in 2008), including SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, MILK, THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON, FROST/NIXON and THE READER.

2009 Nominees (for films released in 2008):

– SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE
– THE READER
– MILK
– FROST/NIXON
– THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON
