Avengers 4 title won’t live up to high fan expectations, says Kevin Feige

Between working here at JoBlo and being the host of popular comic book podcast (Talking Comics), I've heard many theories with regard to what the official title of AVENGERS 4 could turn out to be. Unfortunately, according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, my compatriots and I might have to go back to the drawing board. Recently, the MCU creative commented about the title to IGN, by saying that “It’s gotten entirely out of hand, and now will have no chance to living up to any expectations of what it’s gonna be.”

Ugh! Does this mean that we won't be seeing AVENGERS: SECRET WAR or AVENGERS: SECRET INVASION? “It sort of backfired, if I’m honest with you,” Feige continued, “because the notion was to not talk about it so the focus was to be on [Infinity War].” As far as marketing strategies go, it's possible that withholding the title has landed Marvel in a tight spot. As you already know, the Marvel fanbase is quite the rabid bunch, and sometimes, if left to speculation, expectations can get the better of passionate people rather quickly. It's totally a "damned if you do and damned if you don't" situation for the studio, and as fans, all we can do it wait for Marvel to be ready to spill the beans on their end.

In regard to AVENGERS 4 spinning directly out of the events of INFINITY WAR, Feige says “They’re absolutely directly connected, as many of our movies are but more so than many of our other movies. People will want to know what happens next immediately at the end of it." Well, at least we've got that much to go on, right? Personally, I'm of the firm belief that the MCU is in more than capable hands. After all, there's got to be a very large and calculated reason as to why Marvel has yet to reveal their long-term plans beyond AVENGERS 4, right? I have a feeling that a sea change is coming for the studio, and that we're going to see a host of new characters enter the fray very soon. Bring it on, Marvel, I'm with you!
