Pet Sematary remake unearths a 2019 release date!

So it seems after the runaway success of IT, we’re going to be seeing more remakes of Stephen King‘s other films. The next one up on the block is PET SEMATARY. The film has been given a April 19, 2019, just in time for Easter. Fun for the whole family!

Now I’ve said before that I don’t have a problem with remakes in general. Many times they are unnecessary or awful, but there are of course many gems (especially in the horror genre, such as THE THING, THE FLY, and the ’70s INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS), so there’s always a chance for greatness. Also, while PET SEMATARY is indeed unnerving and worthy of its classic status, it also isn’t perfect. There are a lot of cheesy moments (that slow-motion “NOOO!!!!” comes to mind) that could definitely be improved. I’ll at least give it a chance, depending on how the trailer looks.

So what do you Schmoes think? You down for a PET SEMATARY remake? Or, like the dead kid from the story, do you think we should leave well-enough alone?
