Teaser trailer for Rio 2 brings back the whole gang, including Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg, and Jamie Foxx

All right, all right, everybody calm down. I know this is a kid’s movie sequel, but let’s talk about this for a minute, okay? See, I was annoyed when I saw the trailers for the first RIO, thinking to myself, “Birds? I need to see a cartoon about birds?” and generally just piling on the “whatevers” anytime RIO was in my peripherals. It came and went at the theater and one day I got sucked into the kiddie cartoon void, as many of us parents do, and found myself watching RIO with my youngster at home. I had hoped I would go into a coma before it started, but instead I endured and found that…it wasn’t bad. In fact, it was pretty fun. Son of a bitch, I kinda liked it. Even after seeing it probably 30 times now, I am still fond of those stupid birds.

So, with that out of the way, it looks like RIO 2 is in my future. For some of you it’s easy to dismiss. For others, especially those with mini-me’s, you are locked in. And, thankfully since the first one was surprisingly fun, I’m game. Featuring the voices of Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, Leslie Mann, Jemaine Clement, Rodrigo Santoro, Andy Garcia, Kristin Chenowith, Tracy Morgan, and George Lopez, Bruno Mars, and Amandla Stenberg, RIO 2 has just dropped it’s first teaser, which builds on John Powell’s theme and highlights the return of all the wildlife, including some new additions.

Check it out:

Here’s the synopsis:

Blu, Jewel and their three kids living the perfect domesticated life in the magical city that is Rio de Janeiro. When Jewel decides the kids need to learn to live like real birds, she insists the family venture into the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in with his new neighbors, he worries he may lose Jewel and the kids to the call of the wild.

RIO 2 flocks to theaters on April 11, 2014.
