Robert Redford knocks over banks, politely, in The Old Man & the Gun trailer

Sometimes, good people do bad things. Such is the case for Forrest Tucker who, since his days as a teen, committed 93 robberies in five states over the course of two years. I know what you're thinking. Steve, that's a terrible thing to have done, how can you say Tucker was a good person? Well, I don't know the man personally, though it has been established that Tucker was one of history's most polite criminals, particularly during his senior years.

In the first trailer for THE OLD MAN & THE GUN, Robert Redford (THE STING, BAREFOOT IN THE PARK) stars as Forrest Tucker for a film based on true events written and directed by David Lowrey (A GHOST STORY, PETE'S DRAGON). The comedic crime drama tells the story of Tucker, whose audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70 led to an unprecedented string of heists that confounded authorities and enchanted the public. In hot pursuit of Tucker is detective John Hunt (Casey Affleck), who is both baffled and in awe of the old man's brazen methodology, and a woman (Sissy Spacek) who loves him regardless of his on-the-lamb lifestyle.

Danny Glover, Tika Sumpter and Tom Waits co-star in the feature produced by James D. Stern, Dawn Ostroff, Jeremy Steckler, Redford, Anthony Mastromauro, Toby Halbrooks, James Johnston, Bill Holderman.

The film will be released via Fox Searchlight on September 28th.
